国際文化研究所

　昭和女子大学大学院の付置研究所である国際文化研究所は、1992年5月に設置されました。その目的は、１．日本を含む世界各地の文化を国際的視座から研究すること、2．研究者の国際連携のもとに研究すること、３．内外の文化保存と創造に寄与することです。 　現在、国際文化研究所の構成部門は、コミュニケーション・建築都市・服飾・食生活・歴史文化・考古学の６部門で、研究所のプロジェクトとして、部門間の連携課題や単独の課題（プロジェクト）に取り組んでいます。中でも特筆すべきは、この30年間の積極的な学術成果「ベトナムの町並み保存支援と文化財保存協力活動」が、「日本イコモス賞2021」として顕彰されたことです。これは、研究所の紀要創刊号（1994年）で、「ベトナム・ホイアン特集」で始められているように、ベトナム文化遺産の保存の国際協力、建築・生活調査、歴史・考古学調査など主要な課題であった成果です。これは、2023年秋に開催予定の「世界遺産ホイアン・日本橋展」（光葉博物館）で、文化財保存や交流の懸け橋等も紹介してまいります。 　上記部門の研究フィールドとして展開されているのは、モンゴル、東南アジア、西アジア、太平洋地域などです。 　研究所の設立から30周年を迎えた2022年度からは、研究成果のデジタルアーカイブ化を進め、地理情報システムを活用して、内外への発信を始めています。グローバルなフィールドでの研究活動が一層期待されます。 　このような研究活動を推進するためのステイクホルダーとともに、学生にもグローバルな文化理解の場を拡げます。

About the Institute of International Culture

The Institute of International Culture was established in May 1992 as a research institute attached to Showa Women’s University Graduate School.

The goals of our institute are as follows:
1. To carry out research on cultures of the world from an international standpoint.
2. To carry out research through international cooperation.
3. To contribute to the preservation and creation of cultures.

Currently, the Institute of International Culture consists of 6 sections―namely, Life Sciences, History and Culture, Environmental Design, Communication, Area Studies, and International Relations. Our institute also engages in Global Project as a common project.

The Institute of International Culture has received numerous awards over the years for its contribution in the projects to preserve the cultural heritage of Vietnam, culminating in the conferment of ICOMOS Japan Prize in 2021. It can be said that these achievements are the fruit of international cooperative efforts initiated by the institute. In the course of the projects in Vietnam, the institute has spearheaded research and surveys in the fields of architecture, history, archeology, etc. Moreover, the results of research have been shared widely through various channels―including the institute’s bulletin which was first published in 1994.

In 2022, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of our establishment, we started a project to stock the research materials in a digital archive and plan to disseminate them by utilizing the geographic information system (GIS). In the autumn of the following year, we held the World Heritage Hoi An Japanese Bridge Exhibition at the university museum to introduce our cultural heritage preservation activities. The research sections of our institute continue to engage actively in various fields, both domestically and abroad.
