Thirty four Showa students gathered in a cheerful mood at Pittville Pump Room where our lessons started.
Bright blue sky welcomed us and birds were singing beautifully in the trees.
The stunning Pittville Pump Room which was built as a spa for noble people in 1830’s plays an important role in Cheltenham. It is used for many functions including hosting classical concerts, wedding receptions and celebration parties.
English lessons are conducted in three classes and each class has a teaching assistant who is a local university student. The first lesson started with students introduce themselves by talking about their hobbies and favorite activities. Then teachers introduced a short history of Cheltenham.
At break time, each student enjoyed eating bananas, cookies and crisps. After break seven groups of Showa students prepared for their cultural exchange visit at Swindon Primary School in the afternoon. They planned how to teach origami, Japanese words and some games.
