英語と日本語、両方で原稿を作って下さいましたので、そのままご紹介します。
生まれは１９４８年、アメリカのカリフォルニアです。しかしながら、幼少期のほとんどは、
父の仕事の関係で国内、ドイツ、台湾を移り住んでいました。
学位については、カリフォルニア大学サンタバーバラ校で政治学とアジア研究を学び、
サンフランシスコ州立大学で英語教授法の修士を得ました。以来、現在に至るまで、
台湾、中国、日本の大学で教えてきました。
趣味はヨット、家や庭の手入れ、歴史、経済、政治についての読書、そして旅行です。
旅行は、その土地の言語、文化、人々について知ることができるので、
楽しいものですね。
私たちは挑戦する機会に恵まれた時代に生きています。自分が仕事をすることで、
みなさんが英語を習得してゆくことは、私にとってたいへんな喜びです。
それと同時に、その過程でおこる様々な課題に取り組むことも、私の重要な仕事です。
私は、新しい国際学部でこの仕事が出来ることをたいへん嬉しく思っています。
みなさんにお会いできることを楽しみにしています。
I was born in California in 1948, but was raised in many different places in the US and abroad (Germany and Taiwan). I went to the University of California at Santa Barbara, where I majored in Political Science and Asian Studies. Later, I went to San Francisco State University and attained a Master’s degree in TESOL. I have lived and worked in Taiwan, China and Japan since the 1970s. I like sailing, working on my house and garden, and reading history and economics, as well as politics. I also enjoy traveling to as many places as I can and learning the languages and cultures of many different people. We live in challenging times and I enjoy trying to help students learn English, as well as learn about the important issues of our times. I am very happy to be a part of the new International Department and look forward to meeting the students.
